An All-round Artistic Gymnast
At only twenty years, Simone Biles has won a staggering nineteen Olympic and World Championship medals. She is the most decorated American gymnast.
Simone was the sixth woman to wind an individual all-round title at the World Championships and Olympic Games. She won four Olympic Gold Medals and set an American record for most gold medals in womens gymnastics at a single Games.
She is the 2016 Olympic individual all-round, vault and floor gold medalist. She participated in the gold medal winning team named the Final Five at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro.
This year, she was one of the contestants on season 24 of Dancing With the Stars. She got high scores and praises from the judges before finishing fourth.
Simone first tried gymnastics at age six and later enrolled in atraining program which took approximately 20 to32 hours a week.
In the beginning of her career, she was placed third all-round, first on vault and balance team, fourth on floor exercise and eight on uneven bars.
Her high placement in the American Classic secured her a spot to compete at the 2012 USA Gymnastics National Championships. Her outstanding performance earned her a name in the United States Junior National Team.
Simone made her senior international debut in 2013 at the American Cup. She led for two rotations, finishing second. She later competed at the City of Jesolo Trophy where she garnered all the titles.
Simone continued to win the competitions that followed.She was selected to compete at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastic Championships in Nanning. There, she dominated the preliminary round, qualifying in first place in several finals.
She contributed to the U.S. teams first place qualification into the team final. Simone led her team to its consecutive world team championship which they won by nearly seven points. She became the secondAAmerican woman to repeat as world all-round champion.
After the world championships, shewas listed as one of ESPNWS Impact 25. She was also chosen as Sportswoman of the Year by the Womens Sports Foundation.
Simonehas achieved incredible success in her gymnastic endeavors. In 2016 she was chosen as one of BBC 100 Women and one of the finalists for Time Magazines Person of the Year. She has won five medals at a single Olympic Games among a few sports legends.
Simone and her teammate, Gabby Douglas, are the only American female gymnasts to win both the individual all-round gold and team gold at the same Olympic Games.
